Join us for the 2020 Penrhos College Production: My Fair Lady
Set in 1912, in post-Edwardian London, the beautiful music score and lyrics by Loewe and Lerner transport the audience back to a time when class distinction was rife, separating the ‘haves’ and the ‘have nots’. However, at its core, My Fair Lady is a touching fairytale, the story of a bedraggled Covent Garden flower girl, Eliza Doolittle, who is almost magically transformed into a ‘lady’. Through the interaction of Professor Higgins and Eliza Doolittle, we see a relationship develop, one which teaches the other important values. Higgins teaches Eliza resilience and how to be a lady, something she thinks she wants to be; Eliza teaches Higgins about respect, kindness and empathy.
