A tale of resilience and determination
In brilliant form, our Senior Volleyball Team well and truly lived up to our motto of “Strive for the Highest” in the Open Honours Division at the WA Volleyball Schools Cup last weekend. Members of the Penrhos team came from Years 10 and 11 and were competing against the Rossmoyne SHS team of Year 12s. The final went to 5 sets over two and a half hours of competition, battling blood noses, down a match point and at a psychological disadvantage, having been resoundingly beaten by the same Rossmoyne Team the previous day. However, the Penrhos girls prevailed and have claimed the title of the Best Female Schoolgirls’ Volleyball Team in WA and will compete in the Australian Volleyball Schools Cup on the Gold Coast in December.
What a fantastic story! We are all very proud of our girls: Sophie Alchin, Sarah Burton, Aimee Di Virgilio, Lucy Tyler, Alex Thomason, Samantha Shillington, Cassie Dodd, Harriet Jones and of course their coaches Mike Ruggerio and Kenrick Armitage.
Congratulations to Mrs Sue Martin
We are also very proud of our Geography Specialist Teacher, Mrs Sue Martin, who has been awarded the 2019 Joseph Gentili Award by the Geographical Association of Western Australia.
Sue’s life-time professional commitment and enthusiasm for geography, geography teaching and geography curriculum development, together with her willingness to share her expertise with professional colleagues, attested to the assertion that Sue is a consummate geography educator. Warmest congratulations Sue!
A reminder that for safety reasons, glass drink bottles are not permitted on campus. If dropped, they have the potential to cause harm or injury. Students are asked to please use drink containers made from materials other than glass. Thank you for your cooperation.
