Penrhos Sport – Term 1 Wrap Up
by Brenton Mizen, Head of Sport
What an action-packed and unforgettable term it’s been for Penrhos Sport! From incredible records in the pool to competitive fixtures on the courts and fields, our girls have truly embraced the spirit of participation, teamwork and excellence.
Whole School Swimming Carnival – Year 7-12
This Term marked a special milestone with our first ever combined Year 7–12 Swimming Carnival. The atmosphere was electric, the house spirit unmatched and a huge congratulations goes to Troy House for taking out the win!
We also witnessed some phenomenal performances in the pool with Bella Russell smashing four records, Ciara Conroy breaking two records, and Sienna Hepworth and Poppy St Quintin each breaking a record. What a day to remember!
Penrhos/Wesley and Perth HPC Swim Meets
Our swim squad turned up in force for these key meets, building strong momentum and sharpening their race skills in preparation for the IGSSA Carnival. The dedication and energy were truly inspiring.
Junior School Swimming Carnival
Our Junior School swimmers brought all the energy and enthusiasm! The support from the Penrhos community was incredible, with a big thank you to the Friends of Sport for keeping everyone fueled with free coffees. Congratulations to Rome House for their well-deserved win!
IGSSA Swimming Carnival
It was an outstanding day for our IGSSA swim team. Special mention to Ciara Conroy for breaking the Year 10 50m Breaststroke IGSSA record! Penrhos finished a strong 6th overall, with standout performances from our Year 8, 10, 11 and 12 swimmers. The team vibe was truly something special.
Year 4 Summer Games @ Penrhos
We were proud to host this year’s Year 4 Summer Games and showcase our brand-new outdoor courts. It was a fun and active day with girls mixing with peers from other JIGSSA schools while trying out sports like volleyball, tennis, golf, cricket, hockey and rugby. Thank you to all the sporting organisations who ran engaging clinics.
Year 6 Summer Games
Despite some hot weather, the girls made the most of the modified day, enjoying skills clinics and gameplay in the sport of their choice, including t-ball, cricket, water polo, or AFL. The excitement is building as the girls now look ahead to training for the Winter Games next term!
JIGSSA Swimming Carnival
Another fantastic day in the pool for our junior swimmers. The team spirit was high, and our Year 4 students finished an impressive second in their pennant. An outstanding result!
IGSSA Badminton
Sixteen girls proudly represented Penrhos at the IGSSA Badminton competition at MLC. The night was full of thrilling and competitive matches, with a big congratulations to our C team players Sheila & Isla and Chelsea & Sara for winning their division!
Team Breakfasts – IGSSA and JIGSSA
Thank you to the Friends of Sport and all the parents who helped out with our team breakfasts. Your bacon and egg rolls were a hit! These events were a fantastic way to come together and fuel up before our major swim carnivals.
IGSSA AFL & Volleyball
What a term of sport! Our girls competed in weekly home-and-away fixtures and came away with an amazing nine winning pennants. The improvement across all teams was huge and it was wonderful to see so many alumni coaches returning to give back to the Penrhos community. A heartfelt thank you to all staff who committed countless hours to coaching, coordinating and supporting our teams. We couldn’t do it without you!
