Scholarships and bursaries

Each year the College Council, the Penrhos College Foundation and the Penrhos College Alumni Association award a range of scholarships and bursaries for Boarding and Day students entering Years 7 – 11; these are designed to recognise particular individual strengths, and to meet the needs of our proudly diverse community.

Scholarships

Scholarships are awarded to those students who demonstrate excellence or ability across academics or music, opportunities as per the details below.

Applications for our 2022 Scholarships are now closed. Applications for 2023 entry will open in November, 2021.

The Penrhos Academic Scholarships

Penrhos Academic Scholarships are awarded to those who demonstrate academic excellence or ability, a commitment to learning and support for the College values of respect, empathy, integrity, knowledge, growth and synergy.

The award of an Academic Scholarship has a minimum value of 25% remission of tuition and a maximum value of 75% remission of tuition for the remainder of Secondary School studies at Penrhos. At the discretion of the Principal, continuation of the scholarship will depend upon the student’s demonstrated commitment to the College and to her academic progress.

Penrhos welcomes applications from girls who are Australian citizens or permanent residents residing in Western Australia entering in Years 7 – 11.

Students applying for an Academic Scholarship are required to sit a scholarship exam.

The Margaret Way Alumni Scholarship

Applications for our 2022 Scholarships are now closed. Please direct any inquires to our Enrolment Manager, Courtney Silverthorne via enrol@penrhos.wa.edu.au or 08 9368 9672.

The Margaret Way Alumni Scholarship is awarded to one student who demonstrates academic excellence or ability, a commitment to learning and support for the College values of respect, empathy, integrity, knowledge, growth and synergy.

The award of an Margaret Way Alumni Scholarship has a minimum value of 25% remission of tuition for the remainder of her Secondary School studies at Penrhos. Continuation of the scholarship will depend upon the student’s positive conduct and academic progress.

Penrhos welcomes applications from girls who are daughters or granddaughters of Penrhos alumni members entering Year 7.

Students applying for the Margaret Way Alumni Scholarship testing are required to sit a scholarship exam.

The Penrhos Music Scholarships

The Penrhos Music Scholarships are awarded to those who demonstrate music excellence or ability, a commitment to learning and support the College values of respect, empathy, integrity, knowledge, growth and synergy.

The award of a Music Scholarship has a minimum value of 25% remission of tuition and a maximum value of 75% remission of tuition and 100% remission of music tuition for the remainder of her Secondary School studies at Penrhos. Continuation of the scholarship will depend upon the student’s demonstrated commitment to the College as well as academic and music progress.

Penrhos welcomes applications from girls who are Australian citizens or permanent residents residing in Western Australia entering in Years 7 – 11.

Students applying for The Penrhos Music Scholarship are required to sit the scholarship exam and participate in a music audition.

The Penrhos Instrumental/Vocal Music Scholarships

Penrhos College offers Instrumental and Vocal Scholarships to girls entering Years 7-11 who demonstrate excellent musical aptitude and ability, and potential to contribute to the musical life of the College.

These Scholarships offer up to 100% remission of music tuition fees on one instrument for the duration of their time at Penrhos College

Students applying for an Instrumental/Vocal Music Scholarship are required to participate in a music audition.

The Penrhos Instrument of Need Scholarship

Applications for our 2022 Scholarships are now closed. Please direct any inquires to our Enrolment Manager, Courtney Silverthorne via enrol@penrhos.wa.edu.au or 08 9368 9672.

The Instrument of Need Scholarship is available to girls entering Years 7 – 11. They are specifically awarded to encourage students to learn an instrument that will help to balance the needs of the ensembles within the College.

The Instruments of Need Scholarships provide 100% remission of music tuition fees for the duration of their time at Penrhos College Students applying for an Instrumental/Vocal Music Scholarship are required to participate in a music audition.

Bursaries

If your daughter has strengths in performing arts, creative arts or sport, or can demonstrate her allround good citizenship, then perhaps a Red Dragon Bursary could help make it financially possible for her to enjoy the inspirational learning environment we offer at Penrhos. Bursaries are made available to girls who will flourish in our stimulating environment and whose parents may be unable, for financial reasons, to send their daughter to Penrhos College.

Applications for our 2022 Bursaries program are now closed. Applications for our 2023 bursaries will open in November, 2021.

The Penrhos Red Dragon All-Rounder Bursaries

Applications for our 2022 Bursaries are now closed. Please direct any inquires to our Enrolment Manager, Courtney Silverthorne via enrol@penrhos.wa.edu.au or 08 9368 9672.

Our special Penrhos Red Dragon All-Rounder Bursaries are made available to girls who will flourish in our stimulating environment and whose parents may be unable, for financial reasons, to send their daughter to Penrhos College.

We are looking for girls who demonstrate a track record in all-round effort and achievement, together with a positive attitude to their academic study and a willingness to embrace new challenges and engage in a range of exciting co-curricular activities. We encourage girls who are passionate about the creative arts, performing arts or sport to apply.

The award of a Red Dragon All-Rounder Bursary has a value of 50% remission of tuition and may also provide the opportunity for 50% remission of boarding fees (if applicable*) for the remainder of her Secondary School studies at Penrhos.

Penrhos welcomes applications from girls who not already enrolled at Penrhos College or any other independent all-girls’ school entering in Years 7 – 11 and who are Australian citizens or permanent residents residing in Western Australia.

Madalah Indigenous Student Scholarships

Madalah Indigenous Student Scholarships

Applications for 2022 Scholarships are now closed.

Penrhos is proud to partner with Madalah to provide Secondary School Scholarships for Indigenous students from remote, regional and metropolitan areas in Western Australia.

Scholarships are open to students entering in Year 7 (Day or Boarding) for the remainder of Secondary School studies at Penrhos. Where possible consideration may be given to entry into other years, but Year 7 is the preferred point of entry.

We are looking for girls who demonstrate a track record in all-round effort and achievement, together with a positive attitude to their academic study and a willingness to embrace new challenges and contribute to the Penrhos community.

The scholarships along with ABSTUDY and parent contributions cover tuition and boarding fees from Year 7 through to Year 12.

MADALAH Limited is a not-for-profit organisation that offers secondary and tertiary education scholarships for Indigenous students, primarily from remote and regional communities, to WA’s leading boarding schools and Australian universities. MADALAH secondary scholarships provide support to students from year 7-12. These scholarships are administered by MADALAH on behalf of the National Indigenous Australians Agency (NIAA). We are a partner school with MADALAH and therefore enrolled students may be eligible. For more information please visit their website – www.madalah.com.au
