Wellbeing
At Penrhos, we provide a happy, nurturing and safe residence for girls while they receive their secondary education at Penrhos College.
While living in our Menai Boarding House, your daughter will be supported by our team of staff, led by Head of Boarding Liz Langdon. These staff will get to know your daughter, be there to provide advice, support and a friendly ear at her home away from home. Each night there is a team of staff that sleep overnight at the Boarding House and are available to speak to parents if there is an issue of concern.
Additionally, every boarder is allocated a Year 12 boarding buddy who contact the prospective boarder prior to her moving into the Boarding House. These friendships often develop into strong bonds within the boarding school for girls.
Academic support
Boarders at the College follow a formal structure for homework and study, with prep time allocated and supervised at age appropriate levels.
Penrhos also offers MyEducation, a tutoring service available to all year 11 and 12 students, and free of charge to boarders, to help support students in their individual learning needs across different subject areas.
Facilities
Living on campus means the girls have access to many of our amazing facilities.
Penrhos is one of the only boarding schools in perth with individual rooms for each boarder, giving the students an opportunity for privacy, and to make their room their own, in a way that makes them feel comfortable and at home.
The Menai Boarding House also contains private study rooms, laptop and printing rooms, music practice areas, an outdoor firepit, gardens, kitchens on each floor and shared TV spaces.
Activities
There are countless team sports the girls can join like tennis, hockey, basketball, netball, swimming, cross country running, athletics, volleyball, softball, gymnastics and rowing, Weekends are a good time for boarders to catch up on extra study, play board games and pool, go on excursions and social activities. We also encourage girls to suggest activities in which they would like to take part.
Come the weekend, our Recreation Officer always has something fun and unexpected in store for the girls. Trips to the movies, shopping, socials, football matches, ice-skating, aquatic centres, concerts and ten-pin bowling – that are mostly arranged with other boarding houses such as our brother school Wesley College in South Perth.
