All gifts over $2.00 are tax deductible.

By making a gift towards our Scholarships Fund, you significantly impact the life of a promising young girl who would not otherwise be able to attend Penrhos College.

Your contribution, however big or small, will help shape the future of Penrhos and provide life-changing opportunities for students. Together, we can create an unsurpassed legacy of educational excellence and community support.

Penrhos College was built on a strong tradition of giving, with philanthropic support for the Penrhos College Foundation enabling generations of girls to live a future without boundaries.

The majority of scholarship opportunities are the result of the generosity of past and present Penrhos families, alumni and friends who have invested in the future of our daughters and their College.

Your gift creates life-changing opportunities for girls just like Amelia.

Amelia’s story is truly inspiring and highlights the life-changing impact a scholarship can have on a young girl’s life. Excited to receive an academic scholarship to attend Penrhos College in 2013, her journey took a challenging turn.

At the end of Year 7 Amelia was diagnosed with a rare melanoma and underwent multiple surgeries in Year 8 to remove the cancer. She is grateful for her teachers, who helped her continue learning while she was going through this treatment.

Amelia’s remarkable academic drive and intelligence were evident from a young age when she delved into Year 12-level human biology textbooks in Year 6. In recognition of Amelia’s exceptional brightness, she skipped Year 9 to continue to be academically challenged. Amelia says that the mentoring and support she received from Penrhos staff “made a huge difference in my life.

“I received great support from Penrhos. It really shaped my life. I was educationally challenged, felt supported to share my ideas, and loved how the school empowers girls – encouraging us to think critically and develop our own voice.

I feel very lucky I could go to Penrhos; to have been in a learning environment with teachers who encouraged us to learn and to aim high, to celebrate and champion women and their achievements, and to explore the different opportunities that were offered at Penrhos.”

Amelia graduating from medical studies at UWA as Valedictorian, 2021

Amelia graduated from Penrhos in 2017 at the age of 15, and later as Valedictorian from the University of Western Australia in 2021. She’s now a junior doctor at Royal Perth Hospital. With her personal experience of being seriously ill as a child she is now dedicated to specialising in paediatrics. She is passionate about helping children and their families through the most challenging times of their lives.

Amelia says that what is most important to her today is “making a difference to people’s lives”.

All gifts over $2.00 are tax deductible.
